Attention: Early and Mid-Career Faculty and Academic Staff

The Community-Engaged Research Fellows Program offers a yearlong, cohort-based, faculty and academic staff development opportunity for up to four early- and mid-career faculty and four academic staff to strengthen their community-engaged research (CER) skills, develop CER projects in partnership with communities, and produce scholarly products.
Fellows participate in monthly workshops with researchers and community partners with deep experience in collaborative community-engaged research. Workshops cover such topics as building and sustaining partnerships; practicing CER in an inclusive and culturally responsive manner; collaborating with community partners throughout the research process; publishing CER; and achieving career success in CER.
Fellows co-design a CER project in partnership with community members or produce scholarly products related to CER, such as grant proposals, community-based participatory research pilot studies, or peer-reviewed research articles.
Each fellow is paired with a senior MSU faculty mentor who advises the fellow on various aspects of CER, from partnership development to disseminating products co-authored with community partners. Mentors are selected from among faculty with records of exemplary achievements in CER and individually matched to fellows based on learning interests.
- Fellows will receive a $2,500 stipend and up to $2,000 for CER project costs.
- Eligible applicants are current MSU employees.
- Eligible applicants are early- to mid-career faculty (assistant and associate professors) and academic staff (e.g., specialists, research associates, extension educators).
