Grand opening set for MSU Bio Engineering Facility

Grand opening ceremonies for the Michigan State University Bio Engineering Facility will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the building, located on Service Road on the south side of the MSU campus.

A host of MSU dignitaries will be taking part, including Board of Trustees Chairman Joel Ferguson, President Lou Anna K. Simon and Provost June Pierce Youatt.

Also on hand will be MSU scientists who will conduct groundbreaking research in the facility.

The 130,000-square-foot building is a key component in the expansion of biomedical engineering research at MSU.

It will house the newly created Institute for Quantitative Health Sciences and Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

The facility will bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines and colleges, including the College of Engineering, the College of Human Medicine and the College of Natural Science.

The ceremony will include a ribbon cutting and tours.
