MSU’s online graduate programs rise nationally

Michigan State University online master’s programs continue to climb in the national rankings, with two of the programs now placing in the top 10 in their respective fields.

U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Graduate Programs for 2017, released today, show all four MSU programs that participate in the rankings improving from last year.

MSU’s online graduate education program jumped three places to No. 8 (up from No. 11 in the 2016 ranking). The program has improved each year since 2013, when it was No. 23.

"Our faculty take great pride in creating and teaching online courses that engage students and produce deep learning," said Robert E. Floden, dean of the MSU College of Education.

Michigan State’s online graduate program in criminal justice, at No. 10 this year, improved six places from 2016 and 16 places from 2015, when it was No. 26.

MSU’s online graduate programs in business jumped 10 places to No. 16 (up from No. 26 in 2016). The year before that, 2015, MSU’s business programs ranked No. 65, meaning they've climbed nearly 50 spots in three years. (The U.S. News rankings do not include MBA programs.)

Michigan State’s online graduate nursing program improved five places from 2016, to No. 26 this year. The program has climbed steadily since 2013, when it ranked No. 43.
