Facing cancer with an athlete's determination

“I've always been a competitor, but I never knew I was going to be challenged in this way.”
JACQUELINE SETAS, a recent Spartan graduate, came to Michigan State University on a golf scholarship. During her time on the MSU Women's Golf Team, Setas began noticing her body slowly breaking down and eventually was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Jacqueline SetasShe faced many tough days and multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Despite the challenges, Setas persevered by visualizing her treatments as rounds in a golf tournament and relying on the support of her family, teammates and the Spartan community.

“This journey truly changed my perspective on life,” says Setas, who today is cancer free. “Now I feel it is my duty to pay it forward to others who are up against a battle similar to mine.”
